I'm a software developer and designer.
My focus is game development and user experience.
Some amazing projects I enjoyed working on.
A mobile classroom inside a converted RV that toured schools in Ontario and Saskatchewan teaching students about the harmful effects of impaired driving.
My role was architecting and building the applications and system to run a real-time interactive experience across 80+ devices and three stitched projection screens. I also contributed to motion design and UX through UI animation and feedback. Components of the project included a VR driving simulation, Android tablet games and a real-time big screen display of player data. Everything was networked together and could be controlled by the instructor.
Students and teachers found the experience highly interactive, engaging and got them excited to learn.
Free-to-play mobile game where you grow a record label through collecting and managing artists with unique abilities, participating in music *battle* events, and upgrading facilities. The game had a unique feature where players could mix their own music tracks and share them with Facebook friends.
In addition to game designer, I also led the team as producer and worked on the development of the audio mixing feature. Post launch I managed the live operation, planning and overseeing new content, features and updates. I worked with a diverse team of artists, developers and designers as well as external and internal stakeholders and content creators.
The game had thousands of active users at launch, reached #1 on the free music app download charts and was rated 4.5/5 stars in the App Store.
A real-time strategy game where you built up your cities, conquered your enemies and strive to acquire all the land in the kingdom. The game was free-to-play and cross platform, and you could play it on mobile and in your browser.
I worked both on the C#/.NET backend server and HTML/JavaScript front-end. As a software developer I planned, designed and implemented features that improved player experiences as well as monetization and engagement. I was also maintained, updated and deployed the mobile applications for the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Realm of Empires was successful and had a large following of loyal players who in enjoyed its more hardcore gameplay.
An arcade style mobile game where you shoot asteroids and space monsters all while trying to stay alive as long as you can. Uses tilt as the controller for your rocket ship. Sequential kills gives you point multipliers. You can also collect items such as a temporary shield or bomb that destroys everything on screen. Compete on leaderboards for the highest score.
I designed and developed the game, including artwork and promotional material, and published it to the Apple App Store. This was one of the first mobile games I published. It was built with Objective-C and Cocos2D. The graphics were vector-based and created in Illustrator allowing for easy scaling for different screen sizes and uses. The game was a paid download and generated revenue.
